Silicon Power Architect, Reality Labs
Role Summary
Lead power architecture and modeling for custom silicon used in Reality Labs AI-enabled wearable devices. Work with system, SoC, PMIC, and IP teams to define power states, estimate use-case power, and optimize implementations to meet strict power budgets for consumer wearables.
Experience Level
Senior level. Minimum 6+ years of experience with production silicon and at least one shipped product.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include leading power modeling and architecture across the silicon and system stack.
- Model and own use-case power for custom silicon in collaboration with systems teams.
- Define and influence SoC power requirements: power states, high-level power tree, and power sequencing.
- Work with SoC architects to optimize image compute, CPU/GPU, and other workloads for AR/VR use cases.
- Collaborate with PMIC and systems teams on SOC-level power requirements and integration.
- Optimize power-architecture implementations to meet target use-case power goals.
- Develop methodologies, prototype concepts, and guide transitions into high-volume consumer products.
- Model data flows, evaluate trade-offs between general-purpose and custom compute, and perform cost/benefit analyses.
- Perform post-silicon model-to-hardware correlation and debug cross-disciplinary system issues.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- 6+ years working with production silicon and at least one shipped product.
- Experience partitioning solutions across hardware/software and multi-disciplinary system boundaries.
- Experience with technology node scaling and projections.
- Experience producing custom IP block power estimates and low-power design principles across RTL, design, and system levels.
- Ability to evaluate architectural trade-offs of performance, power, and area.
- Proven use of scientific methods to debug, diagnose, and resolve cross-disciplinary system issues.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with top-down, high-level modeling to hardware power estimation and virtual prototyping tools (for example, Synopsys Platform Architect).
- Experience using AI agents to manage power tools and extract results.
- Programming experience in C, C++, or Python.
- Experience leading or collaborating effectively in multidisciplinary teams and solving ambiguous problems in fast-changing consumer electronics environments.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience is required. Master's degree (MSEE) or PhD is listed as preferred.
