Job Title

Silicon Infrastructure Engineer

Role Summary

Build and maintain infrastructure, tooling and workflows that enable silicon development and verification at scale. You will work with silicon EDA tools, build systems and compute infrastructure to make chip design, verification and large-scale workloads reproducible and performant.

This role sits on the infrastructure/engineering team in London and focuses on developer tooling, build-system integration and workload optimisation for silicon teams.

Experience Level

Mid-level; specific years of experience not stated.

Responsibilities

Day-to-day responsibilities include building developer tools, integrating EDA toolchains into reproducible build workflows, and supporting teams running large silicon workloads.

  • Create and maintain Python tooling for silicon verification and physical-design workflows tied to EDA tools.
  • Integrate and support Bazel (and similar) build systems for EDA tools across the chip lifecycle.
  • Develop and improve developer tools for frontend and backend silicon teams.
  • Design workflows to be cacheable, reproducible and performant.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to profile, tune and optimise compute-heavy workloads.
  • Support containerised execution and orchestration for silicon workloads.

Key skills and experience for the role. Items are split between must-have and nice-to-have where indicated.

  • Must-have: Proficient in Python and modern software development practices.
  • Must-have: Experience with build systems and integrating tools into build workflows (Bazel, Pants or equivalent).
  • Must-have: Practical experience supporting silicon EDA toolchains or silicon design/verification workflows.
  • Must-have: Familiarity with containerisation (Docker) and basic orchestration concepts.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with workload managers and grid compute systems (Slurm, LSF, SGE).
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with infrastructure as code (Ansible, Terraform) and maintaining compute infrastructure.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with monitoring and observability tools for resource utilisation and failures (Prometheus, Zabbix, etc.).
  • Requirement: Role may require eligibility checks for export-controlled technologies (UK, US and other jurisdictions).
