Silicon Domain Architect

Role Summary

Responsible for defining and driving silicon-domain subsystem architecture for next-generation FPGAs, with emphasis on security technologies, Root of Trust, configuration capabilities, and hardware/software integration. The role partners with hardware design, firmware, software, validation, and product teams to translate system requirements into architectural specifications and implementation guidance.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include defining architecture and evaluating technology options for silicon-domain subsystems, especially security and configuration features.

  • Define end-to-end architecture for silicon domain subsystems, including Root of Trust and FPGA configuration features.
  • Translate system-level requirements into silicon architecture specifications, interfaces, and implementation guidelines.
  • Develop technology roadmaps and contribute to microarchitectural feature definitions for future FPGA products.
  • Perform functional modeling, simulations, and architecture analysis to evaluate tradeoffs and optimize performance, power, and security.
  • Develop test plans, validation strategies, and testing infrastructure requirements for new silicon features.
  • Collaborate with hardware, firmware, software, validation, and product teams on hardware/software integration and configuration control.
  • Support architecture reviews and resolve complex silicon design challenges throughout the product lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Must-have: At least 4 years' experience in semiconductor architecture, silicon/SoC/FPGA architecture, or related hardware engineering disciplines.
  • Must-have: Practical experience with hardware security concepts such as secure boot, Root of Trust, trusted computing, or cryptographic foundations applied to silicon features.
  • Must-have: Experience translating system requirements into hardware architecture specifications and design documentation.
  • Must-have: Experience defining or analyzing hardware/software interfaces, firmware interactions, configuration requirements, and system integration considerations.
  • Must-have: Experience performing architectural analysis, benchmarking, and optimization for performance, power, security, or scalability.
  • Nice-to-have: 5+ years of experience in semiconductor/FPGA/SoC architecture or silicon development.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience implementing security architectures, Root of Trust, secure lifecycle management, secure provisioning, device authentication, or cryptographic acceleration.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience creating architectural models, simulation environments, or benchmarking methodologies.
  • Nice-to-have: Prior work across hardware and software teams to deliver system-level solutions.

Education Requirements

Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. Preferred: Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
