Job Title
Silicon Design Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Join AMD's SoC Verification team to develop and execute verification for complex IP and subsystem designs. The role focuses on block- and subsystem-level verification, performance and power-aware verification, and improving verification quality metrics.
This role is based in San Jose, CA and is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Experience Level
Mid-level (engineer role; typical experience range 3+ years). Specific years not provided.
Responsibilities
Work with verification and RTL teams to plan, implement, and close verification for complex digital designs.
- Create test plans for complex IP designs in collaboration with senior verification and RTL engineers.
- Design and maintain SystemVerilog/UVM testbenches for functional verification.
- Develop constrained-random and directed verification environments; use SVA and formal tools where appropriate.
- Debug failing tests with design engineers and drive functional correctness to closure.
- Verify clock-gating and other low-power design aspects in coordination with RTL teams.
- Track and improve verification quality metrics: pass rates, code coverage, and functional coverage.
Requirements
Required skills and experience to perform the role; preferred items are listed separately.
-
Must-have: Hands-on experience designing testbenches in SystemVerilog and using UVM methodology.
-
Must-have: Experience with constrained-random and directed verification and with SystemVerilog Assertions (SVA).
-
Must-have: Proven ability to debug test failures, collaborate with RTL engineers, and drive coverage closure.
-
Must-have: Strong understanding of digital logic fundamentals and computer architecture/organization.
-
Must-have: Familiarity with verification quality metrics (code and functional coverage, pass rates).
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with C/C++ and/or C for verification tasks; prior hands-on Python scripting for automation.
-
Nice-to-have: Prior protocol experience (PCIe, AMBA AXI) and prior industry design/verification experience.
-
Nice-to-have: Practical experience with industry formal verification tools.
Education Requirements
Master's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering is specified.
