Silicon Design Engineer (1 year contract)
Advanced Micro DevicesJob Title
Silicon Design Engineer (1 year contract)
Role Summary
Contract opportunity within AMD's Central DFX (CDFX) group to implement and automate Design-for-Test (DFT) and Design-for-Debug (DFD) features for complex SoC, APU and GPU designs. The role focuses on CAD automation, DFT flow deployment, regression monitoring and tooling to support global design teams.
Experience Level
Mid-level (no explicit years stated). This is a temporary 1-year contract role.
Responsibilities
Work with DFX engineering teams to deliver automated flows, tooling, and regressions for production ASIC designs.
- Implement and deploy automated design flows to add DFT features to complex SoC ASIC designs or IP subsystems.
- Understand and apply Design-for-Test (DFT) architecture and DFD concepts in silicon projects.
- Set up and execute design checks using industry-standard and in-house tools.
- Author and maintain scalable Perl, Python and TCL scripts for DFT implementation and CAD automation.
- Monitor CAD and IP regression results, investigate failures, and analyze coverage.
- Develop in-house automation, utilities, intranet portals and AI/ML applications to support DFX processes.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and competencies for immediate contribution on DFT automation and CAD flow work.
- Practical experience with Perl, Python and TCL scripting; familiarity with Shell scripting.
- Experience deploying or supporting automated CAD/design flows and regression frameworks for ASIC/SoC projects.
- Ability to debug CAD/IP regression failures and analyze coverage data.
- Experience building scalable automation, utilities or web-based tooling for engineering workflows.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; effective written and oral communication; ability to work on a team.
