Job Title

Silicon Co-Design Engineer - New College Grad (2026)

Role Summary

The Silicon Co-design Engineering team productizes NVIDIA chips into consumer, professional, server, mobile, and automotive solutions. This role focuses on characterizing pre-production silicon, validating system features, running lab experiments, and driving hardware root-cause analysis to refine designs and enable productization.

Work involves lab validation, automation of characterization and data collection, and cross-team collaboration to resolve hardware and system-level issues.

Experience Level

Entry-level (New college graduate). Typical experience: 0–2 years; role is intended for candidates completing or recently completing a BS, MS, or PhD.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include post-silicon characterization, validation, and analysis to prepare silicon for products.

  • Develop and implement methodologies to characterize silicon and validate system features on pre-production devices.
  • Perform lab experiments and drive root-cause analysis of hardware failures in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Analyze workloads (DL/AI, AAA games, Adobe Suite, video conferencing) to evaluate performance and energy efficiency.
  • Characterize silicon for speed, performance, power, yield, and quality and correlate results to design decisions.
  • Design or commission tools and test platforms to automate characterization, data collection, and test execution.
  • Recommend productization changes and assess the return on investment of new techniques and features.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience for successful performance in this role.

  • Comfortable working in a lab environment and executing silicon validation plans.
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills with demonstrable examples.
  • Understanding of digital design, circuit analysis, algorithms, computer architecture, BIOS, drivers, and software applications.
  • Proficient programming skills in one or more: Python, JavaScript, C, C++.

Nice-to-have

  • Familiarity with statistical methods and tools for large-dataset analysis; experience applying ML/deep learning techniques to data analysis.
  • Knowledge of signal integrity, timing analysis, fault analysis, sampling, filters, and related hardware analysis methods.
  • Experience with lab instruments such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
  • Experience with database or web development is a plus.

Education Requirements

Completing a BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
