Senior Test Engineer
RenesasJob Title
Senior Test Engineer
Role Summary
Join the Hi-Rel Space Product and Test Engineering Group to develop automated test solutions for radiation‑hardened analog and power-management ICs used in space applications. The role works closely with Product and Design Engineering and has direct access to an on-site production test floor.
Primary mission: develop and transfer characterization and production test methodologies, hardware, and automated test programs to production while ensuring measurement accuracy and manufacturability. Relocation assistance available for qualified candidates.
Experience Level
Senior - requires solid independent technical ownership; minimum of 5 years experience developing and debugging automated test solutions in semiconductor, defense, or aerospace environments.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include design and implementation of test solutions, validation, and production transfer.
- Independently develop and implement automated test solutions for new analog and power-management ICs.
- Define test requirements with product and design engineering teams.
- Develop, debug, and execute characterization programs to evaluate device performance.
- Develop, debug, and optimize production test programs for automated test equipment (ATE).
- Design and troubleshoot load boards, test schematics, PCB layouts, and supporting test hardware.
- Correlate automated test results with bench measurements and perform GR&R studies.
- Perform transient analysis, spike detection, and de-glitching to resolve signal issues.
- Support validation and transfer of test solutions into production and troubleshoot complex test failures.
Requirements
Required and preferred skills for successful execution of the role.
Must-have:
- Minimum of 5 years developing and debugging test solutions for automated test environments (semiconductor, defense, or aerospace preferred).
- Experience testing analog and power-management ICs (LDOs, buck regulators, PMICs, PWM controllers).
- Hands-on experience developing, debugging, and troubleshooting automated test programs and test hardware.
- Knowledge of semiconductor test methodologies, device characterization, and production test transfer.
- Ability to analyze technical problems and produce practical engineering solutions independently.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with ETS-364, Teradyne microFLEX, Advantest V93000, or comparable ATE platforms.
- Experience with bench-to-ATE correlation, GR&R studies, and production test transfer.
- Familiarity with transient analysis, spike detection, and de-glitching techniques.
- Experience with high-reliability or radiation-hardened semiconductor applications for aerospace/defense.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) is specified. The posting allows equivalent practical experience where appropriate.
