Job Title
Silicon Architecture Modeling
Role Summary
Work on hardware architecture and modeling for Intel's IPU-related systems, producing models from component level to full-system performance analysis. The role supports architects and engineers by translating architectural concepts into simulation and modeling environments to predict behavior, performance, scalability, and efficiency.
The team focuses on performance analysis and modeling to evaluate design trade-offs early in the development cycle; collaboration across architecture, software, and hardware domains is required.
Experience Level
Mid-level β typically requires 3+ years of relevant hands-on experience in hardware/architectural/performance modeling or simulation.
Responsibilities
Primary duties involve building and using models and simulations to evaluate system performance and inform architectural decisions.
- Develop, validate, and maintain simulation and performance models spanning component to full-system levels.
- Collaborate with architects and cross-functional engineering teams to translate architecture concepts into measurable models and experiments.
- Perform system-level performance analysis to identify bottlenecks related to bandwidth, latency, and data movement.
- Design experiments and interpret results to guide trade-off decisions and scalability assessments.
- Integrate and verify models against real-system behavior or higher-fidelity references.
- Contribute to tooling, frameworks, and automation that speed model development and analysis.
Requirements
Key technical skills and experience required or strongly preferred.
-
Must-have: 3+ years of hands-on experience in hardware modeling, architectural modeling, performance modeling, simulation, or related areas.
-
Must-have: Strong knowledge of computer architecture and microarchitecture fundamentals.
-
Must-have: Experience with system-level performance analysis and modeling concepts.
-
Must-have: Understanding of bandwidth, latency, data movement, and system bottlenecks.
-
Must-have: Familiarity with networking, packet-processing systems, or high-performance computing domains.
-
Must-have: Experience using modern AI-assisted engineering tools and methodologies.
-
Preferred / Nice-to-have: Experience with SoC, ASIC, CPU, networking, AI/ML accelerator, storage, or data-center architectures.
-
Preferred / Nice-to-have: Experience developing simulation frameworks, virtual platforms, or performance models.
-
Preferred / Nice-to-have: Deeper understanding of packet-processing, networking protocols, or large-scale system architectures.
Education Requirements
B.Sc. or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
