Job Title
Signal & Power Integrity Engineer
Role Summary
Deliver signal and power integrity solutions for large, high-speed platforms, PCBs, and packages. Perform simulation, modeling, measurement, and debug to ensure interconnects meet electrical and platform-level requirements.
Collaborate with IP design, silicon integration, and cross-functional teams to define electrical specifications, implementation guidelines, and interconnect rules that support product landing zones and minimize quality degradation.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The posting specifies multi-year experience expectations (see Education Requirements).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and validate signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) solutions for platforms, boards, and packages.
- Create and maintain 2D/3D electrical models and perform detailed interconnect extraction and simulation.
- Define SI/PI rules and implementation guidelines for platform designs.
- Design and characterize test structures; correlate simulations with measurements using high-speed test equipment.
- Perform electrical validation, debug signal/power noise issues, and improve design margins (attenuation, crosstalk, jitter, power noise).
- Develop electrical interface specifications and contribute to industry interconnect standards.
- Collaborate with IP and SoC teams to maximize platform-level solution space and cost/quality trade-offs.
- Document characterization, measurement reports, and platform design guidance for downstream teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Proficiency in signal integrity analysis, simulation, and validation techniques.
- Hands-on experience with 3D EM solvers and 3D modeling tools.
- Strong understanding of PCB and package design principles.
- Expertise in electrical validation and debug practices for high-speed designs.
- Technical proficiency in analyzing noise, glitches, and signal/power integrity interactions.
- Experience designing test structures and correlating measurement with simulation.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with DDR and SerDes interfaces (e.g., LPDDR5x/6, GDDR6/7, PCIe Gen5/6/7, PAM-4, UCIe).
- Experience developing electrical interface specifications and working with industry consortiums.
- Strong systems-engineering perspective and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Alternatives: Master’s degree or PhD in similar fields accepted. Experience equivalencies specified in the posting: 8+ years with a Bachelor’s, 6+ years with a Master’s, or 4+ years with a PhD; equivalent practical experience is acceptable where stated.
