Signal Integrity / Power Integrity Engineer
Meta PlatformsJob Title
Signal Integrity / Power Integrity Engineer
Role Summary
Design, analyze, and validate signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) for next-generation hardware products and infrastructure. Lead SIPI technical strategy across multiple projects, collaborate with electrical, silicon, packaging, PCB, firmware, mechanical, manufacturing teams and external partners, and drive solutions from concept through validation and production.
Experience Level
Senior-level - typically requires 8+ years of relevant SIPI simulation, measurement, electrical design, or equivalent practical experience.
Responsibilities
Deliver system-level SIPI engineering across architecture, simulation, validation, and transfer to manufacturing.
- Architect and lead pre-layout and post-layout SI/PI design, simulation, and validation for high-speed products and PDNs.
- Develop and standardize SIPI methodologies, tools, and design guidelines.
- Define and own SIPI validation strategy, test plans, lab measurements, and compliance activities for high-speed interfaces (e.g., PCIe, DDR, MIPI, USB, Ethernet).
- Drive technical decisions that affect system architecture, design trade-offs, and manufacturability.
- Lead cross-functional troubleshooting, failure analysis, and root-cause investigations using simulation and lab data.
- Guide vendors and suppliers on high-speed interconnect, substrate, and compliance testing requirements.
- Mentor engineers, promote knowledge sharing, and contribute to process improvements.
- Communicate technical findings and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred skills listed separately.
- 8+ years' experience delivering electrical products, subsystems, or prototypes through validation and into manufacturing or technology transfer.
- Advanced knowledge of SIPI fundamentals: impedance control, transmission line theory, PDN characterization, and electromagnetic compatibility.
- Proficiency with SIPI simulation and modeling tools such as Cadence Sigrity, Ansys SIwave, Keysight ADS, HFSS, Hyperlynx, CST, HSPICE, or similar.
- Experience with advanced lab equipment for SIPI validation (TDR, VNA, high-speed scopes, spectrum analyzers, compliance fixtures).
- Experience with PCB and/or flex design and manufacturing processes.
- Hands-on experience with high-speed electrical interfaces (DDR, PCIe, MIPI, USB, Ethernet, or similar).
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience in EM simulation and measurement.
- Experience in consumer electronics product development.
- Familiarity integrating AI tools to optimize design/validation workflows or experience with responsible AI practices.
- Experience measuring eye-diagrams and using network analyzers, signal generators, and related test equipment.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant technical field preferred; Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related fields listed as preferred. Equivalent practical experience accepted.
