Job Title
Signal Integrity Engineer
Role Summary
Work in Intel's Networking Solutions Group to define, validate, and optimize signal integrity across high-speed SerDes, boards, packages, and IBIS-AMI models for Ethernet and PCIe networking products.
Collaborate with IP, silicon integration, board, and ecosystem partners to perform simulation, bench validation, and produce implementation guidelines that ensure product performance and standards compliance.
Experience Level
Mid-level (typical requirement: Bachelor’s +4 years or Master’s +3 years of relevant experience).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include simulation, measurement, modeling, and cross-team support for signal integrity on complex platforms.
- Deliver signal integrity solutions for large, complex high-speed boards and packages.
- Develop die-to-die interconnect models; define SI rules and document characterization.
- Perform interconnect simulations and advise platform implementation tradeoffs.
- Characterize test structures and correlate simulations with interconnect measurements.
- Perform conformance measurements, debug failures, and improve product robustness.
- Produce measurement reports and platform design guides for internal teams and customers.
- Collaborate with IP design and silicon integration teams to meet product requirements.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for initial consideration.
- Practical, hands-on experience in signal integrity engineering and bench validation.
- Foundational signal and systems knowledge (time/frequency-domain analysis, lumped vs distributed regimes, phase, dB/dBm, RSS calculations).
- Experience with computational tools such as Python (SciPy/NumPy) or MATLAB.
- Familiarity with VNA-based measurements and manipulating S-parameter (Touchstone) files.
- Strong technical communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams and stakeholders.
- Role requires regular on-site presence.
Nice-to-have
- Technical knowledge of Ethernet or PCIe standards; experience with SATA, USB, DDR is beneficial.
- Board layout or rules-checking experience (Cadence Allegro or similar).
- Experience with simulation tools such as SPICE, ANSYS HFSS, Keysight ADS, or internal SI tools.
- Experience creating scripts to drive simulations and automate tasks.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in computer, electrical, systems engineering or a related technical field with 4+ years of experience, or a Master's degree in those fields with 3+ years of experience. No certifications were specified.
