Shift Process Engineer — Advanced Packaging Technology Development (APTD)

Role Summary

Support and improve assembly and packaging processes within Micron's Advanced Packaging Technology Development (APTD) organization. Work on shift in a development/manufacturing environment to investigate process issues, improve yield and quality, and drive operational performance.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and global sites to qualify changes and resolve technical challenges that affect process capability and equipment effectiveness.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include diagnosing process issues, analyzing data, and implementing improvements to manufacturing processes and equipment.

  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve process issues using failure analysis and structured problem-solving methods (e.g., FMEA, 8D).
  • Analyze process and manufacturing data (SPC, FDC) to improve yield, product quality, and cost.
  • Partner with engineering, operations, suppliers, and global sites to optimize processes and resolve technical challenges.
  • Monitor process trends and implement countermeasures to increase process capability and equipment effectiveness.
  • Support evaluation and qualification of process changes, materials, and vendor solutions.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience to perform the role; preferred items noted separately.

  • Experience analyzing data to solve technical problems and drive process improvements.
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) principles and process control methodologies.
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Experience using AI-enabled tools (examples given: Copilot, Claude, Gemini, or similar).
  • Nice-to-have: familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing processes and process equipment; knowledge of FMEA, 8D, FDC, APC, RMS or related manufacturing systems; understanding of gas behavior and chemical reactions as they apply to manufacturing; demonstrated leadership in cross-functional environments; proficiency with Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a related technical field is listed as a minimum qualification.
