Job Title
Camera and Depth Electrical Engineer
Role Summary
Design and validate electrical hardware for camera, depth, and sensor modules across Mixed Reality, wearables, AI devices, and robotics. Work on ASIC and board-level mixed-signal designs, system integration, and bring products from prototype to mass production.
Experience Level
Mid-level β typically requires 6+ years of consumer product life-cycle experience (role lists 6+ years in minimum qualifications).
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include design, validation, and cross-functional integration:
- Implement and debug mixed-signal ASICs, board-level circuitry, and high-speed signal integrity for camera/depth solutions.
- Develop electrical solutions for MR, wearables, AI devices, and robotics, from concept through prototyping, validation, and mass production.
- Use industry tools (Cadence, Altium/OrCAD/Allegro, SPICE, MATLAB) for design, simulation, and verification.
- Collaborate with optics, mechanical, firmware, sensors, and system EE teams to integrate camera and depth modules.
- Provide technical leadership on ASIC customization, architecture decisions, and design optimization for sensor applications.
- Assess vendors and manage outsourced PCB development; lead debugging and failure analysis activities.
Requirements
Must-have:
- 6+ years of experience in consumer product life cycles and electronic hardware development.
- Experience with low-power analog circuit design, DC/DC converters, power management, and A/D & D/A conversion for image sensors.
- Experience designing electrical subsystems: power regulators, high-speed digital signal integrity (MIPI CPHY/DPHY), SoC and microcontroller interfaces, and serial protocols (I2C, I3C, SPI, LVDS).
- Schematic capture and PCB design experience with Cadence OrCAD/Allegro or equivalent tools.
- Experience creating test plans and performing electrical hardware validation and lab verification using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, frame grabbers, impedance analyzers, and related equipment.
- Ability to run firmware commands on prototype platforms and use scripting (MATLAB/Python) for data analysis.
- Proven cross-functional collaboration skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with camera/depth sensor or autofocus electrical design and validating custom ASIC function blocks.
- Experience with manufacturing partners (PCB, FATP, JDM, ODM, CM, module integrators) and mass-production environments.
- Experience with laser drivers, camera/depth sensor chip architectures, or end-to-end camera module electrical subsystem development.
- Familiarity with applying responsible AI practices or integrating AI tools to improve workflows.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience. Preferred: MS in Electrical Engineering or a related field. (The posting also accepts equivalent hands-on experience in electronic hardware development.)
