Server SoC System Architect
QualcommJob Title
Server SoC System Architect
Role Summary
Design and architect SoC and system-level infrastructure for datacenter SoCs with a focus on debug, telemetry, RAS (reliability, availability, serviceability), and server manageability. Collaborate with platform architects, hardware and software teams to enable secure debug, telemetry, and manageability features that reduce time-to-resolution and improve datacenter uptime.
The role involves specification, cross-team coordination, and ensuring compliance with industry standards for deployable data center products.
Experience Level
Senior-level architect. Typical candidates have multiple years (commonly 5+ years) of hardware or systems architecture experience for datacenter products; the posting specifies minimum experience that varies by degree β see Education Requirements for degree-linked minimums.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Define SoC and system-level architecture for datacenter products focused on debug, telemetry, RAS, and server manageability capabilities.
- Design mechanisms for crash dumping, error injection, invasive debug, debugger authentication/elevation, and secure debug sessions.
- Collaborate with platform architects and cross-functional teams to integrate HW/SW/system requirements for debug and telemetry features.
- Produce clear technical documentation, reports, and presentations for engineering teams, management, and customers.
- Monitor industry trends, participate in standards organizations, and ensure infrastructure complies with regulatory and industry best practices.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Practical experience in SoC architecture and hardware design for datacenter environments, including system-level integration for debug/telemetry/manageability.
- Deep understanding of boot, reset, recovery, debug, telemetry, and server manageability concepts and use cases.
- Experience with debug, telemetry, and RAS protocols and infrastructures (examples: MIPI STP, DMTF PLDM) and designing related infrastructures for confidential computing.
- Familiarity with security technologies relevant to secure debug, attestation, supply-chain provenance, and access control/isolation primitives.
- Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills; ability to produce stakeholder-focused documentation.
- Demonstrated participation in or contribution to industry standards bodies or forums (preferred).
Nice-to-have:
- Proven track record delivering hyperscale data center solutions and knowledge of data center product life cycles and use cases.
- Leadership or significant contributions in standards development (e.g., OCP).
Education Requirements
One of the following is specified in the posting: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (with 4+ years relevant experience); OR Master's degree in those fields (with 3+ years relevant experience); OR PhD in those fields (with 2+ years relevant experience). The posting also highlights Master's degrees and advanced academic background as preferred in some cases.
