Role Summary

Join Qualcomm's Data Center team to define the architecture of a high-performance, energy-efficient server SoC targeted at datacenter and enterprise markets. The role partners with chip and platform architects to translate product KPIs into SoC architecture, tradeoffs, and implementation plans.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Typical experience expectations vary by degree: Bachelor's +8 years, Master's +7 years, PhD +6 years; preferred candidates have 15+ years in semiconductor product development and several years on high-performance server chips.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include defining product and SoC architecture and delivering architecture specifications and analysis.

• Collaborate with chip and platform architects to define and iterate SoC and product architecture.
• Develop server roadmap and feature sets across one or more architecture domains.
• Perform analytical modeling of KPIs: performance, power, area, cost, RAS and other metrics.
• Create detailed architecture specification documents and technical trade studies.
• Make PPA, cost, feature and schedule trade-offs to define product architecture.
• Drive decisions on chiplet and package integration approaches.
• Define requirements for coherency management, memory subsystem, IO, power management, security, debug and test.
• Communicate designs and influence cross-functional teams through documentation and presentations.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate impact.

• Extensive knowledge of CPU and SoC architecture for datacenter/enterprise markets.
• Experience with chiplet architectures and package-level integration strategies.
• Deep expertise in coherency management, memory systems, IO architecture, and power management.
• Experience with RAS, debug and test architecture for datacenter products.
• Strong fundamentals in digital ASIC design and CMOS power principles.
• Proven ability to perform analytical modeling and to make product trade-offs (PPA, cost, schedule).
• Excellent written and verbal communication and technical documentation skills.
• Proven track record of commercializing server products and influencing next-generation architectures.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with ARM server architectures and hyperscale data center solutions.
• Experience leading architecture across multiple SoC domains at advanced process nodes.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 8+ years' relevant experience; OR Master's degree in those fields with 7+ years' relevant experience; OR PhD in those fields with 6+ years' relevant experience. Preferred candidates may hold a Bachelor's or Master's with ~15 years in semiconductor product development. (Related work experience is accepted in lieu of degree as described above.)
