SerDes PHY Analog Design Engineer
QualcommJob Title
SerDes PHY Analog Design Engineer
Role Summary
Member of the BDC SerDes Mixed-Signal Design team responsible for analog/mixed-signal circuit design for high-speed SerDes PHYs used in SoCs. Deliver schematic-to-silicon analog blocks and support architecture analysis, integration, verification, and post-silicon bring-up.
Experience Level
Mid-level engineer; target candidates have approximately 4–12+ years of experience in analog or mixed-signal circuit design.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include designing, verifying, and integrating high-speed SerDes analog circuits and supporting silicon bring-up.
- Own hands-on analog circuit design for high-speed SerDes PHY blocks: TX/RX, equalizers, samplers, phase interpolators, serializers/deserializers, biases, LDOs, and reference circuits.
- Design analog and/or digital PLLs (charge pumps, loop filters, VCO/DCO, PFD/TDC, high-speed dividers) for frequency synthesis and SerDes applications.
- Take designs from schematic through post-layout verification, integration sign-off, and post-silicon bring-up and debug.
- Collaborate with RTL, digital design, physical design, design verification, and SoC verification teams to integrate and validate the PHY.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- 4–12+ years of experience in analog or mixed-signal circuit design, with emphasis on high-speed SerDes preferred.
- Strong understanding of advanced FinFET process effects on analog design and layout.
- Proficiency with SPICE simulators, Cadence ADE XL, and Virtuoso.
- Hands-on post-silicon bring-up and debug experience.
- Ability to work effectively with global, cross-functional teams; strong communication and presentation skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience leading PHY integration into SoCs and working with post-silicon teams (HSIO, ATE, SVE, CE).
- Familiarity with peripheral PHY protocols such as USB, UFS, and PCIe.
- Scripting experience (Shell, Perl, Python) to automate design and verification flows.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field. The posting specifies degree-plus-experience minima: Bachelor's +4 years, Master's +3 years, PhD +2 years of relevant hardware engineering experience (related-field acceptable).
