Senior Yield and Process Control Automation Engineer

Role Summary

Lead the definition, design, development, and deployment of automation software that integrates equipment control, production activity control, MES, yield management, and SPC systems to improve throughput, product quality, and operational efficiency in back-end semiconductor manufacturing. Role sits on the Foundry Back-End Automation (BEA) team and works cross-functionally with manufacturing, equipment engineering, IT, process engineering, and quality teams.

Senior β€” typically requires 5+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing automation or systems integration with demonstrated leadership and system-level debugging skills.

Responsibilities

Deliver automation solutions and lead integration efforts across wafer prep, die prep, and assembly/test manufacturing.

  • Architect, develop, and deploy factory automation and integration solutions that interface with equipment, MES, and production control systems.
  • Translate manufacturing and quality requirements into software solutions with partner teams.
  • Maintain scalable, robust, and maintainable software architecture for automation systems.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and system-level debugging for complex integration issues.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship; drive best-practice adoption across the automation team.
  • Monitor industry trends to identify opportunities to influence product roadmaps and responses.

Requirements

  • Must-have: 5+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing automation, systems integration, or equivalent roles.
  • Must-have: 3+ years' experience with yield management systems (YMS), statistical process control (SPC), and automated yield/SPC workflows.
  • Must-have: Strong software engineering skills and hands-on experience integrating factory systems (equipment control, MES, production activity control).
  • Must-have: Strong debugging and data analysis skills in complex production environments; experience leading root-cause investigations.
  • Must-have: Proven ability to collaborate with manufacturing, equipment engineering, process, IT, and quality teams and to deliver production-grade automation.
  • Nice-to-have: Hands-on experience with SEMI communication standards (SECS/GEM, EDA/Interface A, GEM300).
  • Nice-to-have: Experience in 300mm manufacturing, MES300, or Workstream platforms.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience enhancing automated analytics with yield engineering (scrap reduction, drift detection, process health monitoring) and familiarity with factory KPIs (OEE, cycle time, throughput, yield).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM field is required; an advanced degree is preferred. Equivalent practical experience will be accepted where stated.
