Job Title

Senior Wireless System & Algorithm Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design and optimize wireless communication algorithms for silicon used in a LEO satellite communications payload. Work on beamforming, synchronization, modulation, coding, and channel estimation and collaborate with systems, hardware, software, and test teams to deliver validated algorithms on FPGA and ASIC.

This role reports to the Sr. Director of Product and System Integration, Silicon, and is based in the Saratoga, CA office.

Experience Level

Senior β€” the role requests 10+ years of experience in algorithm design and wireless communication systems.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include algorithm design, integration, testing, optimization, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Lead design and development of algorithms for beamforming, time/frequency synchronization, modulation, coding, and channel estimation.
  • Perform simulations and analyses to evaluate algorithm performance under realistic conditions.
  • Integrate algorithms with hardware and software teams for silicon (FPGA/ASIC) development.
  • Develop and execute test plans; validate performance on FPGA and ASIC; analyze test data and address bottlenecks.
  • Optimize algorithms to meet performance requirements and mitigate physical-layer impairments.
  • Document designs, tests, and results; prepare technical reports and presentations for stakeholders.
  • Provide technical support during system integration and field trials; participate in design and code reviews.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience designing algorithms for wireless communication systems.
  • Strong background in communication theory, digital signal processing, and wireless systems.
  • Proficiency with simulation and modeling tools such as MATLAB, SystemC, Simulink, or equivalent.
  • Proven experience developing and validating algorithms for beamforming and synchronization.
  • Familiarity with satellite communication systems, particularly LEO networks.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; able to work independently and in cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • Knowledge of 3GPP standards (preferably 5G NR).
  • Experience with hardware implementation and testing of communication systems and SDR platforms.
  • Programming experience in C/C++, Python, VHDL/Verilog.

Education Requirements

Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical field (as stated in the posting). The role also specifies 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
