Role Summary

Senior R&D engineer on a VLSI physical design algorithms team in Austin focused on developing and improving timing and physical-design optimization engines. The role combines algorithm research, software implementation, and collaboration with design and EDA teams.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities center on inventing and delivering algorithmic improvements and optimization engines for physical design flows.

  • Research and design new algorithms for VLSI timing and physical optimization.
  • Implement and optimize production-quality code (C/C++ or similar) for EDA tools.
  • Profile, debug, and improve algorithmic performance and scalability.
  • Collaborate with RTL/physical design teams and other engineering groups to validate and integrate solutions.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to design reviews and technical documentation.

  • More than 6 years of experience in VLSI physical design, timing optimization, or EDA algorithm development.
  • Strong understanding of VLSI timing optimization concepts and physical-design flows.
  • Proven experience developing optimization algorithms and implementing them in performant production code (C/C++ or equivalent).
  • Software engineering skills: debugging, profiling, and writing maintainable code for large systems.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills for cross-functional collaboration.
