Works within a research and development group collaborating with physical design engineers, tool teams, and product owners to deliver scalable, production-quality algorithms.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically requires more than 6 years of relevant experience in VLSI physical design or EDA algorithm development.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include research, implementation, and delivery of physical-design optimization algorithms and tools.

  • Design and implement new optimization engines and algorithms in C++ for physical design and timing optimization.
  • Enhance and refactor existing algorithms for correctness, performance, and scalability.
  • Profile, debug, and optimize code for runtime and memory on large designs.
  • Collaborate with physical design teams to integrate algorithms into flows and validate results on silicon-representative workloads.
  • Write tests, benchmarks, and documentation to ensure production readiness.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical design reviews.

Requirements

Key technical requirements and preferred skills.

  • Must-have: 6+ years of experience in VLSI physical design algorithm development or equivalent EDA experience.
  • Must-have: Strong, modern C++ development skills and experience with performance-sensitive code.
  • Must-have: Solid understanding of timing optimization concepts and physical-design flows.
  • Must-have: Experience with algorithm design, data structures, numerical optimization, and large-scale debug/profile workflows.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with multithreading/parallelism, Python or scripting for tooling, and familiarity with commercial or open-source EDA tools.
  • Nice-to-have: Prior work on placement, routing, timing-driven optimizations, or related research publications or patents.
