Senior VLSI Engineer
Role Summary
Responsible for physical design of high-speed networking silicon within the Networking Silicon engineering team. Deliver optimized block and chip physical implementations that meet power, area, and performance targets under constrained conditions.
Work covers the full RTL-to-GDS flow and involves timing and congestion closure on large and high-speed blocks.
Experience Level
Senior — 5+ years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities include:
- Perform physical design of blocks to meet specifications for power, area, and performance.
- Execute RTL-to-GDS flows: synthesis, floorplanning, placement, routing, timing closure, power and clock distribution, and physical verification.
- Analyze and resolve complex timing, congestion, power and noise issues for high cell-count and high-speed blocks.
- Develop and improve physical design flows and methodologies; take part in flows development.
- Collaborate with RTL, timing, and verification teams to integrate physical designs into chip-level implementation.
Requirements
Key qualifications and skills required:
- Proven experience with RTL2GDS flows and methodologies.
- Knowledge of physical design flows and methodologies: place-and-route (P&R), static timing analysis (STA), and physical verification.
- Deep understanding of physical construction and integration.
- Experience with physical design verification methodologies (LVS/DRC).
- Familiarity with EDA tools such as Synopsys and Cadence.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills; effective teammate.
Education Requirements
B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
