Senior Verification Engineer / Lead Verification Engineer
QualcommJob Title
Senior Verification Engineer / Lead Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Lead verification activities for complex ASIC/SoC IPs and subsystems across simulation, emulation, and FPGA prototyping environments. Work with design, firmware, software, and architecture teams to achieve functional correctness, verification closure, and pre-silicon validation.
Experience Level
Senior — typically 7+ years of ASIC/SoC/IP verification experience; role includes technical leadership and mentoring responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include planning, implementing, and executing verification and validation tasks:
- Develop and execute verification plans for IP, subsystem, and SoC-level designs.
- Build reusable SystemVerilog/UVM testbenches, assertions, scoreboards, and coverage models.
- Drive functional verification, regression runs, debug, and coverage closure.
- Debug RTL, testbench, and system-level issues across simulation, emulation, and FPGA platforms.
- Enable and support emulation and FPGA prototyping for software-driven validation and pre-silicon bring-up.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with design, architecture, firmware, and software teams to meet schedules and quality targets.
- Improve automation, verification methodology, and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; items below focus on practical verification capabilities (education is summarized separately).
- Strong SystemVerilog, UVM, SVA, constrained-random verification, and functional-coverage skills.
- Solid understanding of Verilog RTL design, CDC, reset verification, and low-power verification concepts.
- Proven programming and scripting skills in C/C++, Python, and Shell/Tcl/Perl for testbench and automation tasks.
- Experience with Git, regression automation, and CI/CD workflows for verification.
- Hands-on experience with emulation platforms (e.g., Siemens Veloce, Cadence Zebu, Palladium) and transaction-based acceleration/co-emulation flows.
- Experience with FPGA prototyping and validation flows (Xilinx/AMD UltraScale+/Versal and Vivado toolchain).
- Familiarity verifying industry protocols (examples: LPDDR5/5X/6, PCIe, Ethernet, USB, MIPI, AXI/AHB/APB); experience with at least one protocol expected.
- Ability to lead technical discussions, debug complex system issues, and mentor others.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. The posting specifies degree-plus-experience combinations: Bachelor's +3 years, Master’s +2 years, or PhD +1 year of relevant hardware engineering experience. Equivalent practical experience meeting these experience thresholds is acceptable.
