Role Summary
The Senior Validation Engineer will join the Post-Silicon Validation team to validate analog, digital, mixed-signal, and power-management ICs for Renesas' Performance Computing Power Division. The role supports silicon validation from first silicon through production release and works cross-functionally with Design, Applications, Firmware, Product Engineering, and Quality teams.
This position is based in Catania and focuses on improving test coverage, automation, measurement accuracy, and execution efficiency to meet NPI schedules.

Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include silicon validation, lab setup, automation, and cross-team debugging.
- Validate analog, digital, mixed-signal, and power management ICs to electrical, functional, and performance specifications.
- Define validation methodologies and develop comprehensive validation plans to ensure feature coverage.
- Design and build advanced laboratory test setups, custom evaluation boards, and supporting hardware for silicon characterization.
- Develop automated validation frameworks and measurement scripts (Python) for lab hardware automation.
- Perform data acquisition, statistical analysis, result correlation, and prepare detailed technical reports.
- Identify, document, and track silicon and application issues at device, board, and system level; drive resolution with cross-functional teams.
- Generate validation reports, evaluation summaries, and status updates while meeting validation milestones.
- Drive continuous improvement of validation methodologies, laboratory automation, and execution efficiency.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and practical experience; nice-to-have items noted.
- Hands-on bench validation and debugging experience with mixed-signal or power-management ICs.
- Strong laboratory skills with oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, source meters, DMMs, waveform generators, logic analyzers, and thermal equipment.
- Proficiency in Python for lab automation and measurement scripting.
- Board-level analog and digital circuit design expertise for PCB schematic creation.
- Strong analytical, systematic debugging, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) from first silicon through production release.
- Good knowledge of power-management applications in consumer electronics.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate within international cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage priorities and deliver high-quality results under tight schedules.
- Flexible to undertake occasional international travel.
- Nice-to-have: Italian language skills.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline (as listed in the source).
