Job Title
Senior Validation Engineer
Role Summary
Validate DDR memory subsystems on complex SoC platforms across pre- and post-silicon stages. Work with architecture, design, firmware, platform and SI teams to execute test plans, develop test cases, debug silicon/firmware issues, and support silicon bring-up and stability efforts.
Experience Level
Senior-level: 3 to 8 years of relevant silicon/platform/memory validation experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities for the role.
- Perform functional validation of DDR interfaces (DDR4/DDR5/LPDDR5/LPDDR6) on pre- and post-silicon platforms.
- Execute validation test plans and develop/maintain test cases for controller, PHY, training flows, initialization, low-power features and stress scenarios.
- Support silicon and board bring-up: DDR initialization, boot flow debug, memory training and platform stabilization.
- Debug failures using logs, traces, register dumps, firmware messages, protocol analyzers, oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
- Validate across frequencies, voltage corners, power states and long-duration stress conditions.
- Create and maintain validation documentation: test plans, specs, debug notes and execution summaries; track progress and report issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify root causes and drive issues to closure.
Requirements
Must-have skills and practical experience; nice-to-have items noted where applicable.
- Must-have: 3β8 years in silicon/post-silicon/platform/firmware or memory subsystem validation.
- Must-have: Strong knowledge of DDR4, DDR5, LPDDR5 and/or LPDDR6 protocols and memory controller/PHY behaviour.
- Must-have: Hands-on experience with DDR functional validation, silicon debug, test execution and failure analysis.
- Must-have: Experience with silicon/board/SoC bring-up and DDR initialization, training and boot-flow debugging.
- Must-have: Firmware or low-level embedded software experience for initialization, training and validation; scripting in C, Python or similar for test development and log parsing.
- Must-have: Familiarity with lab debug tools (JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic/protocol analyzers) and basic signal-integrity concepts.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with automation/infrastructure for validation and regression testing; experience with long-duration stress and corner testing.
- Strong analytical, debugging and communication skills to work across teams and track defects in bug tracking systems.
Education Requirements
Not specified.
