Job Title
Senior USB IP Design Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Work as an IP Design Verification Engineer within the Silicon and Platform Engineering Group to verify USB IP logic against architectural and microarchitectural specifications. Collaborate with architects, RTL developers, and physical design teams to ensure functional correctness and presilicon readiness.
This role focuses on improving verification coverage, resolving presilicon issues, and maintaining verification infrastructure that supports production-quality IP.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Typically requires about 6β8 years of industry experience in RTL design verification.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Develop functional verification plans and testbenches to cover microarchitecture specifications.
- Implement and run verification strategies using system simulations to analyze power, timing, and functionality.
- Debug failing tests and implement fixes in the presilicon environment.
- Collaborate with architects, RTL designers, and physical design teams to validate complex features.
- Maintain and improve verification infrastructure, methodologies, and automation to increase coverage and efficiency.
- Document test plans and lead technical reviews with design and architecture teams.
- Drive improvements in test coverage, execution time, and verification quality through practical solutions.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 6β8 years of industry experience in RTL design verification, with strong SystemVerilog and UVM/OVM expertise.
- Experience designing test plans and building testbench infrastructure (monitors, scoreboards, BFMs), coverage points, and assertions.
- Familiarity with presilicon verification tools (for example, Synopsys VCS) and scripting for automation (Python, Perl, Shell).
- Understanding of high-speed IO IPs and protocols such as USB, PCI Express, or AMBA.
- Knowledge of VLSI design flows, structural and physical design methodologies, and power-aware simulation techniques.
Preferred skills:
- Experience with SoC-level validation and subsystem interoperability validation.
- Expertise in power-aware design and low-power validation flows.
- Strong analytical and debugging skills and experience resolving complex verification issues.
- Proven ability to work effectively in diverse, cross-functional teams and communicate technical results clearly.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience. An advanced degree (Master's or PhD) is listed as preferred.
