Senior Thermal Design Engineer
Role Summary
As a senior thermal product design engineer on a cross-functional team, you will design, simulate, prototype, and validate thermal solutions from package to system for NVIDIA products across business segments (Data Center, Automotive, Robotics, Gaming, and more).
Experience Level
Senior — typically 5+ years of relevant experience in electronics thermal design.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Design and develop thermal solutions from concept through mass production.
- Perform thermal simulations using industry-standard CFD tools and interpret results.
- Build, instrument, and characterize prototype assemblies; run tests and analyze data.
- Drive trade-offs, validation plans, and design changes to meet product requirements.
- Document and present analysis summaries and test reports to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, consultants, and manufacturing partners.
Requirements
Must-have:
- 5+ years of experience in electronics thermal design.
- Deep knowledge of heat transfer and fluid dynamics.
- Proficiency in at least one thermal simulation tool (e.g., Icepak, Flotherm, Fluent).
- Hands-on thermal testing experience: sensors, automated data acquisition, system assembly, and data analysis.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills; experience leading work with external partners and suppliers.
Nice-to-have:
- Extensive experience with electronics cooling in data center, automotive, robotics, or gaming products.
- Background in product conceptualization, manufacturing processes, and statistical methods for high-volume production.
Education Requirements
BS in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or equivalent practical experience; related technical degrees or equivalent experience accepted.
