Job Title
Senior Test Hardware Engineer
Role Summary
Design and develop system-level test PCBs for Broadcom ASICs used in hyperscale data center and AI/cloud storage systems. Work on SLT and bench boards, collaborating with product test, firmware/software, mechanical, layout, and vendor teams to bring designs through manufacturing and test.
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires 12+ years of relevant experience in PCB development, manufacturing, and test.
Responsibilities
Deliver system-level test hardware from architecture through manufacturing and customer deployment.
- Collaborate with Product Test and Firmware/Software teams on SLT system architecture.
- Design schematics and capture SLT and bench PCBs using Allegro CAD tools.
- Create and maintain PCB component libraries and design files for fabrication and assembly.
- Collect design rules and specifications from stakeholders and define PCB architecture.
- Coordinate with PCB layout and signal-integrity engineers to meet electrical requirements.
- Work with mechanical engineers and vendors on mechanical constraints and thermal solutions.
- Audit PCB layouts for DRC, pinouts, and footprints; manage vendor deliverables and archival.
- Test, debug, rework, and qualify manufactured PCBs; manage inventory and test status.
Requirements
Core technical skills and practical experience required or strongly preferred.
- 12+ years developing PCBs through manufacturing and test.
- In-depth experience with schematic capture using Allegro tools.
- Experience managing PCB fabrication and assembly vendors.
- Systems-level vision integrating hardware, firmware/software, mechanical, and manufacturability concerns.
- Practical lab debug skills; comfortable with soldering, board bring-up, DMMs, oscilloscopes.
- Familiarity with high-speed PCB techniques (blind/buried vias, backdrilling) and SI considerations.
- Comfortable with command-line Linux tools and basic scripting.
- Understanding of hardware/software interfaces and embedded design constraints (memory, power, speed).
- Knowledge of power-delivery tradeoffs for high-power systems; PDN simulation skills are a plus.
- Ability to work effectively across fast-moving, multi-site teams.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
