Job Title
Senior Test Engineer - Product Development
Role Summary
Develop hardware and software test solutions to characterize, validate, and industrialize MEMS inertial sensors (accelerometers, gyroscopes, and IMUs). Work within the MEMS Product Development team in Wilmington, MA and collaborate with design, product, manufacturing, and marketing to deliver test plans, fixtures, ATE integration, and calibration systems that meet performance and reliability targets.
Work is hands-on and cross-disciplinary, requiring electrical, mechanical, software, and measurement skills to move products from prototype to production.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The role typically requires 4+ years of experience in test development, silicon evaluation, product applications, or similar engineering roles.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Provide design-for-test (DFT) input to product development and align test solutions with end‑use requirements.
- Support pre‑silicon verification with hardware prototyping and software simulation.
- Develop formal test plans, procedures, and calibration workflows for devices and modules.
- Design and build test fixtures, measurement hardware, and printed circuit boards for device testing and calibration.
- Develop test and calibration software using .NET, NI LabVIEW/TestStand, C#, or similar tools.
- Integrate and use custom test systems and industry‑standard ATE platforms; perform hands‑on ATE debug for new products.
- Identify silicon or module issues, drive root‑cause investigations, and implement solutions or workarounds.
- Perform statistical analysis of measurement data and produce detailed performance reports for stakeholders.
- Correlate bench measurements with ATE results and collaborate with design evaluation teams.
- Optimize test time and throughput to meet cost and production targets.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience (concise):
- Hands‑on experience with test board design, PCB layout, and electronic measurement techniques.
- Practical experience in mixed‑signal design, software development, and data collection/analysis.
- Proficiency with programming/scripting such as C++, C#, and .NET; familiarity with NI LabVIEW/TestStand preferred.
- Experience with ATE platforms, custom test systems, and ATE debug methodologies.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, initiative, ability to work independently, and effective communication.
- Willingness to travel for work (approximately 10% as listed).
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with MEMS devices or inertial sensors.
- FPGA development experience and Verilog/VHDL knowledge.
- Experience with device calibration and automated production test flows.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred (as stated). No specific certifications were listed.
