Job Title

Senior Test Engineer

Role Summary

Own production continuity and test health for released products, drive rapid resolution of manufacturing and yield issues, and establish a proactive sustaining system. Work closely with test, design, quality, manufacturing, and operations teams to root-cause problems and implement corrective actions that sustain production gains.

Experience Level

Senior-level role. Typically requires 5+ years of relevant experience in ATE/production test and sustaining engineering.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on sustaining production stability, improving yield and test efficiency, and transferring sustaining learnings into development.

  • Lead root-cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions for manufacturing, test, yield, and reliability issues.
  • Develop and execute strategies to improve yield, reduce test time and cost, and increase test coverage.
  • Work with factory teams to deploy and sustain solutions on the production floor.
  • Identify trends and risks proactively; prioritize and escalate issues as needed.
  • Improve sustaining processes (prioritization, escalation, closure, automation) and tracking metrics.
  • Partner with Test, Product, Design, Quality, Manufacturing, and Operations to close complex cross-functional issues.
  • Feed sustaining learnings back into new product development to strengthen future validation and test strategies.
  • Establish ownership, accountability, and technical problem-solving capability within the sustaining team.

Requirements

Key technical and practical requirements. Items below are organized as must-have vs nice-to-have.

Must-have:

  • 5+ years of relevant production test or sustaining engineering experience.
  • Hands-on ATE and production test experience; experience on Teradyne Eagle or equivalent analog ATE (iFlex, LTX, VLCT) is required; Eagle experience is preferred.
  • Experience developing characterization and production test programs and hardware.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electronic devices, circuits, analog test techniques, and PCB design fundamentals.
  • Structured problem-solving experience (8D, RCCA, or equivalent) and demonstrated track record of driving yield/cost improvements.
  • Data analysis skills using Spotfire, dataPower or equivalent tools and familiarity with STDF-based workflows.
  • Hands-on use of lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, sourcemeters, and loads.
  • Solid understanding of the IC product development process from concept to volume production.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with mixed-signal test techniques and developing tests on roadmap testers.
  • Experience offloading test program and hardware work to offshore manufacturing sites.
  • Proficiency in programming/scripting (C++, Python) and use of revision control (Subversion, Git).
  • Strong communication, collaboration, time-management, and stakeholder-influence skills.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
