Senior Test Engineer
RenesasJob Title
Senior Test Engineer
Role Summary
Deliver production test solutions for semiconductor products from NPI through mass production and sustaining support. The role owns test strategy, ATE test development, test hardware, validation, production release, test-cost optimization and industrialization activities for assigned products.
Experience Level
Senior - requires at least 6 years of semiconductor test engineering experience covering NPI, characterization, qualification, production release and sustaining support.
Responsibilities
Work across design, characterization and manufacturing to define and deliver production test systems and processes.
- Define production test strategy and manufacturing test flow, including tester selection and test planning.
- Provide testability input to DFT/DFM and design reviews prior to tapeout.
- Specify and lead development of test hardware: loadboards, probe cards, sockets, fixtures and interfaces.
- Develop, review and optimize ATE test programs, production patterns and supporting software.
- Lead first-silicon ATE bring-up, program debug and sample generation; execute ATE characterization across PVT.
- Support qualification and customer sample generation with dedicated test programs and release qualified test software/hardware to production.
- Drive production ramp readiness, close test-related release risks and support OSAT manufacturing start-up.
- Identify test coverage gaps and implement containment and corrective actions; support customer-return and RMA investigations.
- Reduce test time via method optimization, sequencing, multisite efficiency and instrumentation utilization.
Requirements
Key technical and practical requirements for the role. Education requirements are summarized separately below.
- Must-have: Minimum 6 years of relevant semiconductor test engineering experience (NPI, characterization, qualification, production release, sustaining).
- Must-have: Strong knowledge of semiconductor production test methodologies and practical experience developing ATE test solutions.
- Must-have: Hands-on experience with Advantest V93000 or equivalent ATE platforms.
- Must-have: Experience developing production test solutions for RF-SoC devices.
- Must-have: Experience in test hardware development (loadboards, probe cards, sockets) and handler/prober interfaces.
- Must-have: Strong programming skills and experience with test program development and automation.
- Must-have: Experience driving manufacturing release at OSATs and supporting production startup.
- Must-have: Experience with data-analysis and yield-management tools such as JMP or Spotfire (or equivalent).
- Must-have: Strong analytical, planning, communication and problem-solving skills; technical leadership experience.
- Nice-to-have: Specific experience with advanced fixture design, multisite optimization, or additional ATE platforms.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline (e.g., Computer Engineering, Applied Physics). The posting does not state an explicit equivalent-experience clause beyond the required years of practical semiconductor test experience.
