Senior Technical Staff Engineer - Architect (SoC)
Role Summary
Architect and lead the SoC portfolio for 32-bit microcontroller-based Bluetooth, UWB, and Wi‑Fi products. Own SoC and peripheral architecture from concept through tape-out, balancing performance, low power, security, and cost.
Experience Level
Senior-level role. Requires extensive industry experience (posting specifies 15+ years).
Responsibilities
Lead technical architecture and coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver market-ready wireless SoCs.
- Define SoC architecture: core selection, memory subsystems, power management, security, and test features.
- Specify peripheral architectures, programming models, interfaces, and operational behavior.
- Perform feasibility studies and trade-off analyses to meet cost and feature targets.
- Drive product innovation and present technical vision to leadership and customers.
- Specify features supporting functional safety (ISO 26262) and automotive cybersecurity (ISO 21434, including TARA).
- Partner across marketing, design, verification, emulation, firmware, test, and external IP vendors through development to tape-out.
- Apply AI-driven and automation techniques to improve design quality and cycle time.
- Foster collaboration across geographically distributed teams.
Requirements
Core qualifications and technical skills required and preferred.
Must-have:
- 15+ years industry experience in wireless technology design or architecture.
- Proven expertise in microarchitecture and microcontroller development.
- Strong knowledge of BLE, UWB, and Wi‑Fi protocols and standards.
- Deep familiarity with ARM and RISC core architectures.
- Experience with low-power design and power/analog subsystems.
- Understanding of microcontroller development lifecycle: requirements, pre-/post-silicon validation, and production testing.
- Experience working with geographically distributed teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Familiarity with functional safety and cybersecurity standards for embedded products.
- Strong communication and technical leadership skills.
Preferred / Nice-to-have:
- Experience with industry-leading SoC EDA tools and flows.
- Knowledge of security features and secure design principles.
- Background in validation methodologies, including FPGA and silicon board debugging.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is specified. A master’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field is preferred.
