Senior Technical Program Manager (Silicon)
Role Summary
Lead and deliver complex silicon tapeouts, advanced packaging, bring-up, validation, and system-level integration programs. Own planning, execution, and cross-functional coordination to deliver high-quality silicon and packaged systems on aggressive timelines.
This role interfaces with engineering leads, vendors, customers, and stakeholders to ensure programs meet scope, schedule, and quality targets.
Experience Level
Senior β 10+ years of experience in silicon design, tapeout, bring-up, validation, and product qualification.
Responsibilities
Manage end-to-end program execution for silicon and packaging initiatives and provide clear visibility to leadership.
- Plan, schedule, and execute silicon and package tapeouts, advanced packaging, bring-up, validation, and systems development.
- Partner with engineering leads and cross-functional teams to estimate, prioritize, and sequence work.
- Create and maintain project plans covering scope, schedule, budget, and resources.
- Proactively manage schedules, risks, issues, and quality; escalate when necessary.
- Facilitate technical reviews, recurring meetings, and operational checkpoints.
- Deliver concise status updates on milestones, risks, and decisions to stakeholders and leadership.
- Own release schedules, tapeout milestones, bring-up activities, and critical program deliverables.
- Engage with vendors, customers, and external partners on program-related activities.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 10+ years in silicon design, tapeout, bring-up, validation, and product qualification.
- Deep understanding of the silicon tapeout process (verification, signoff, mask ordering).
- Experience with product bring-up, silicon validation, and qualification flows (EVT/DVT exposure a plus).
- Prior semiconductor background (chip design, physical design, or test engineering preferred).
- Proven ability to influence without authority in a matrixed environment.
- Strong organizational skills; able to manage multiple priorities under tight timelines.
- Proficiency with program management tools (MS Project, Jira, Asana, Smartsheet, or equivalent).
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including technical presentations.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with photonic structures, optical communication, silicon photonics, or laser solutions.
- Experience with advanced packaging (2.5D/3D integration, chiplets, silicon photonics packaging).
- Experience building program management frameworks and processes in a startup or new business unit.
Education Requirements
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field required.
