Job Title

Senior Technical Lead – Industrial Networking and Motor Control Software

Role Summary

Lead development of industrial networking and motor control software for next-generation RISC-V real-time MCUs. Own delivery of production-quality Industrial Ethernet stacks, motor-control reference software, and validation from FPGA to first silicon.

The role combines team leadership, cross-functional coordination with SoC/IP/hardware teams, and direct customer engagement for factory-automation and motor-drive OEMs.

Experience Level

Senior — requires 7+ years in embedded software or post-silicon validation with at least 2+ years of team leadership.

Responsibilities

Primary delivery, validation, and integration responsibilities:

  • Build and lead a cross-functional embedded software team (5+ engineers); set schedules and quality metrics, and mentor engineers.
  • Deliver and integrate Industrial Ethernet stacks (EtherCAT, PROFINET, Ethernet/IP, CC-Link IE TSN, Modbus, HSR/PRP) and a clean stack abstraction/port layer for third-party stacks.
  • Design and guide real-time motor control software (FOC loops, ADC/PWM handling, encoder interfaces) and its co-existence with networking on shared cores/threads.
  • Define and run software-centric validation and bring-up on FPGA and first silicon; debug Ethernet/TSN switch, MACs, DMA, PHYs, timers, CAN/LIN.
  • Own conformance and certification readiness and set up conformance test infrastructure (e.g., CLPA, EtherCAT CTT, PROFINET ART Tester, TSN profiles).
  • Build automation for lab validation and CI pipelines; support ASIL-level safety validation where applicable.
  • Collaborate with SoC/hardware, IP, and safety teams to feed software findings into hardware feature decisions.
  • Engage OEM/Tier-1 customers on integration, onboarding, and SDK adoption; deliver reference applications and customer packages.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items listed separately.

  • Must-have: 7+ years in embedded software and/or post-silicon validation with 2+ years leading engineering teams.
  • Must-have: Hands-on experience shipping and certifying Industrial Ethernet and TSN implementations (EtherCAT, PROFINET, Ethernet/IP, CC-Link IE TSN, HSR/PRP, IEEE 802.1 TSN).
  • Must-have: Strong RTOS experience (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or similar), device drivers, and real-time systems design.
  • Must-have: Practical motor-control knowledge or demonstrated ability to lead motor-control and networking integration.
  • Must-have: Bring-up and debug experience with tools such as OpenOCD, Segger J-Link, Lauterbach.
  • Must-have: Scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash) and familiarity with CI/CD workflows.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience taking protocol stacks through conformance/certification; delivery of SDKs to Tier-1s/OEMs.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with LwIP, OpenAvnu, gPTP/1588 time-sync stacks; functional safety (ISO 26262 / IEC 61508); secure boot/firmware update.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with RISC-V ISA and other ISAs (ARM64, x86_64).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Embedded Systems, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical field (as specified in the posting).
