Senior Systems Software Engineer – GPU Software

Role Summary

Design, develop, and verify production GPU kernel drivers and embedded software used across datacenter and gaming markets. Work on driver architecture, performance optimization, and system-level integration in close collaboration with hardware and software engineering teams.

Member of the GPU Software team; collaborate with globally distributed teams to deliver scalable, reliable GPU software.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 5+ years of relevant software development experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include feature development, performance work, and cross-team collaboration.

  • Design, develop, and verify features for next-generation GPU driver architecture.
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks for both datacenter and gaming workloads.
  • Develop robust, scalable driver solutions for compute and graphics environments.
  • Perform complex system-level debugging and validation in hardware/software co-design contexts.
  • Collaborate with hardware teams and globally distributed software teams to deliver high-impact solutions.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and professional experience.

Must-have

  • 5+ years of software development experience focused on system or driver software.
  • Exceptional C/C++ programming skills and low-level driver development experience.
  • Kernel experience on Linux, Android, Chrome OS, or Windows platforms.
  • Strong system-level debugging skills and experience with sophisticated HW/SW designs.
  • Familiarity with computer system architecture: caches, buses, memory controllers, DMA, etc.
  • Proven leadership and ownership of technical projects.

Nice-to-have

  • Maintainer/contributor experience on large open-source projects.
  • Experience with CI/CD, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and YAML-based pipelines.
  • Knowledge of virtualization platforms (XenServer, KVM, Hyper-V).
  • Familiarity with kernel-level security testing, static/dynamic analysis, fuzzing, and negative testing.

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
