Job Title
Senior Systems Software Engineer, Data Center Platform Enablement
Role Summary
Work on bring-up, integration, validation and troubleshooting for compute-tray server platforms used in GPU racks for data centers. The role partners with architects, hardware engineers, firmware and software developers, ODMs and manufacturing to ensure platforms meet functional and deployment requirements.
Experience Level
Senior — typically 8+ years of relevant experience as an individual contributor (level indicated in posting).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities span system bring-up, hardware interaction, validation, and production support.
- Collaborate with global architects and developers on server system designs (CPU, GPU, memory, NIC, PCIe, NVMe, cooling).
- Review schematics and board designs and provide feedback to influence hardware/system design.
- Use simulation and emulation to validate early designs and accelerate iteration.
- Perform hands-on debug and support of early server prototypes and power-on bring-up in datacenter system labs.
- Support factory and manufacturing flows: firmware updates, diagnostics, BOM change signoff, and process optimization.
- Drive root-cause analysis for bring-up failures and collaborate with partners, ODMs, and customers for resolution.
- Design and implement diagnostic test tools and automation to qualify early system software and firmware stacks.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and practical experience for successful execution.
- Strong experience with computer system and firmware architecture for server products (platform-level perspective).
- Experience with CPLD/FPGA design and RTL development and debug.
- Deep understanding of low-level interfaces and interactions between SBIOS, BMC, and OS — I2C, SPI, PCIe, JTAG; system boot, initialization, and PCIe enumeration.
- Practical experience with high-speed I/O at the platform level for enterprise systems.
- Proven track record working with hardware teams, ODMs, and third-party vendors to introduce and support server platforms.
- Proficiency in C/C++ development; scripting with bash and Python; hands-on debugging in embedded Linux environments.
- Experience using simulation (e.g., QEMU) and emulation tools to validate early designs and speed debugging.
- Strong written and verbal communication, teamwork, and a self-starting approach to problem solving.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with early design power-on debug and factory bring-up optimization.
- Familiarity with applying AI tools to accelerate design and debug workflows.
- Demonstrated leadership in fast-paced engineering environments.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science (or equivalent practical experience). The posting specifies 8+ years of experience in lieu of, or in addition to, formal education.
