Job Title
Senior Systems Software Engineer, Data Center Platform Enablement
Role Summary
Work on bring-up, integration, validation and troubleshooting of compute-tray platforms for NVIDIA GPU racks. The role focuses on prototype power-on/debug, system-level validation, manufacturing support, and cross-team coordination with hardware, firmware, and software partners.
This role is part of the Data Center Platform Enablement team and interacts with architects, hardware designers, ODMs, and customers to qualify server platforms for data center deployment.
Experience Level
Senior — requires substantial experience; the posting specifies 8+ years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include platform bring-up, validation, and supporting production readiness.
- Collaborate with architects and developers on system-level design (CPU, GPU, memory, NIC, PCIe, NVMe, cooling).
- Review schematics and board designs; influence hardware/system design for debugability and performance.
- Use simulation and emulation to validate early designs and accelerate development.
- Perform hands-on debug and support of early server prototypes, including power-on and lab testing.
- Support factory/manufacturing flows, firmware updates, diagnostics, and BOM change processes.
- Drive root-cause analysis for bring-up failures and coordinate resolution with partners, ODMs, and customers.
- Develop diagnostic tools and automation to qualify system software and firmware stacks.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience for successful performance in this role.
- Strong experience in computer system and firmware architecture and design for server products; experience with CPLD/FPGA design and RTL.
- Proven track record delivering high-end enterprise server products from definition through customer deployment.
- Solid understanding of low-level platform interfaces and boot flow: SBIOS, BMC, OS interactions, I2C, SPI, PCIe, JTAG, system boot/initialization, and PCIe enumeration.
- Experience working closely with hardware teams, ODMs, and vendors to introduce and support server platforms.
- Proficient in C/C++ development and scripting (bash, Python); strong hands-on debugging skills in embedded Linux environments.
- Experience using simulation/emulation tools such as QEMU for early validation.
- Strong communication skills, teamwork, self-starter attitude, and commitment to delivering quality results.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with early design power-on debug and manufacturing debug workflows.
- Experience accelerating design and debug using AI tools.
- Proven leadership handling complex technical issues in fast-paced environments.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. (This posting specifically lists "Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science (or equivalent experience)".)
