Senior Systems Engineer
Role Summary
The Senior Systems Engineer develops and validates optical metrology technologies, optimizes product performance, and communicates methods and results to cross-functional teams and field engineers. The role supports new product introductions, on-site installations, and initial tool matching.
Experience Level
Senior — typically requires more than 5 years of experience in semiconductor capital equipment engineering, preferably in metrology.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities focus on system-level development, validation, and field readiness of optical metrology tools.
- Align, optimize, and validate complex optical systems.
- Design and conduct experiments to characterize, troubleshoot, and improve systems.
- Develop operational methods and plans to optimize tool performance.
- Generate internal and external technical presentations and documentation.
- Define and communicate specifications and requirements to software, hardware, and applications teams.
- Support on-site installation of first-in-fab tools and initial tool matching efforts.
- Create procedures and training materials for local engineering teams.
- International travel up to 20%.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience. Nice-to-have items noted where applicable.
- Minimum: >5 years experience in semiconductor capital equipment engineering (metrology preferred).
- Experience in applications development using spectroscopic ellipsometric tools.
- Experience integrating precision optical and optomechanical components.
- Proficiency in data analysis and scripting (Python, MATLAB, or similar).
- Strong analytical skills for systematic troubleshooting and hands-on prototype debugging.
- Experience supporting new product development and field deployments in the semiconductor space.
- Good interpersonal and team collaboration skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally up to 20%.
Education Requirements
Ph.D. in Engineering or Sciences with a focus on optical physics.
