Senior System Test Engineer, Networking
Role Summary
Join the NVIDIA-Cumulus Linux Verification Engineering Team to lead verification of networking features and platforms for NVIDIA-Mellanox Spectrum series switches. The role owns test planning, platform bring-up, functional and system testing, automation development, and defect validation.
Experience Level
Senior β requires 8+ years of proven experience in Software Quality Engineering.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on qualifying network OS software and switch platforms through manual and automated testing, and collaborating with hardware and software teams to resolve issues.
- Platform bring-up for new Spectrum-series Ethernet switch systems.
- Design and execute functional tests for Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3 features.
- Write detailed feature and system test plans; define testbeds and topologies.
- Log defects, validate fixes and workarounds, and verify regressions.
- Develop and maintain automated test suites and continuous functional regression.
- Build and maintain automation and tooling to ensure test quality and repeatability.
- Collaborate with design, test, and other engineering teams to identify and resolve issues.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and proven experience for immediate contribution.
- 8+ years in software quality engineering focused on networking or systems.
- Strong coding, debugging, problem-solving, and software engineering practices.
- Hands-on experience with Layer 2 and Layer 3 routing features.
- Experience with switch platforms, ASIC features, firmware, and upgrades.
- Experience with CPLD, BIOS, SecureBoot, and SSD testing.
- Familiarity with test tools such as Ixia or Spirent and test management tools.
- Expertise in telemetry features and metrics collection.
- Strong Python or other scripting language skills.
- Experience with Unix/Linux-based operating systems.
- Nice-to-have: performance testing, BMC/liquid cooling/thermal algorithms, optics, and CI tools (Git, Gerrit, Jenkins).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
