Job Title

Senior System Software Engineer - Tegra Boot Stack Firmware

Role Summary

Join the Tegra Core Firmware team to architect and implement the boot stack firmware for Tegra SoCs used in automotive, datacenter, and other high-compute platforms. The role focuses on feature design, safety and security aligned development, pre-silicon validation, silicon verification, and post-silicon support.

Experience Level

Senior β€” 5+ years of relevant experience in low-level firmware, kernel, or systems software development.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include design, verification, and support of boot firmware across pre-silicon and silicon stages, following safety and security processes.

  • Define, decompose, and verify functional and safety requirements and architecture.
  • Develop and maintain bootloader and core boot firmware (ARM-focused, bare-metal where applicable).
  • Perform failure analysis (FMEA/DFA) on boot functionality and architecture.
  • Validate and verify features on pre-silicon simulation platforms prior to tapeout.
  • Support silicon bring-up, verification, and post-silicon issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and external teams to integrate and deliver firmware features.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience; nice-to-have items listed separately.

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in low-level boot firmware or systems software.
  • Strong C and Python programming and debugging skills.
  • Detailed and extensive experience with Linux kernel software.
  • Experience with ARM architectures and bare-metal boot development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with automotive software development and verification under the V-model.
  • Experience with failure analysis processes (FMEA/DFA).
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Codex) or creating agentic AI tools.

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field β€” or equivalent practical experience.
