Senior System Software Engineer, Tegra Boot

Role Summary

Senior engineer on the Tegra system software team responsible for developing, validating, and debugging Tegra Boot and security firmware across automotive, embedded, and data center platforms. Work spans pre-silicon simulation through silicon bring-up and customer deployment, partnering closely with hardware, architecture, and software teams.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically 3+ years of relevant experience in embedded firmware, boot firmware, or system/software bring-up.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Develop, validate, and maintain Tegra Boot and security firmware for SoC platforms.
  • Participate in the full silicon lifecycle: pre-silicon simulation/emulation to silicon power-on.
  • Identify, debug, and resolve issues within the boot firmware and related system software stack.
  • Collaborate with architecture, software, and hardware teams to design and implement system-level solutions.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • 3+ years of proven experience in bare-metal firmware or device driver development.
  • Proficiency in C and Python; strong low-level debugging skills.
  • Experience with ARM and/or RISC-V firmware and low-level system software.
  • Understanding of applied cryptography and secure boot concepts; defensive security programming.
  • Experience with hardware interfaces and firmware bring-up workflows.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with AI-enabled workflows.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with advanced SoC boot process details and automotive safety/security standards (ISO26262, ASPICE, ISO21434).
  • Experience with Ada/SPARK or Rust and formal software verification.
  • Knowledge of cryptographic algorithms (ECDSA, RSA, DSA, AES) and IO interfaces (UART, SPI, USB, PCIe).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering β€” or equivalent practical experience.
