Senior System Software Engineer - SoC Power
Role Summary
Develop system software and firmware for SoC power management across Tegra Automotive, Embedded, and Data Center platforms. Work with cross-functional hardware and software teams to design, implement, validate, and optimize power and performance strategies for ARM-based systems.
Experience Level
Senior — typically requires 8+ years of experience developing system-level software and firmware for power optimization in datacenter, embedded, or ARM-based systems.
Responsibilities
Primary duties focus on designing and delivering robust power-management features and validating them in complex systems.
- Design and implement power-management policies in system software for Tegra platforms.
- Develop firmware focusing on reliable power management for embedded and datacenter SoCs.
- Triage, debug, and resolve software issues across system stacks and applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and execute power/performance strategies.
- Create and run test plans to validate functionality, performance, and power efficiency.
- Detect, analyze, and mitigate energy consumption and efficiency problems.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience required to perform this role.
- 8+ years developing system-level software and firmware for power optimization in datacenter, embedded, or ARM-based systems.
- Proven experience building system software with measurable power and performance improvements.
- Strong programming skills in C/C++ and scripting (Python).
- Deep knowledge of computer architecture, operating systems, and hardware–software interactions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
Nice-to-have
- Experience with performance/power measurement, tools development, and simulation/emulation platforms.
- Familiarity with system-level architecture: topologies, interconnects, memory hierarchy, interrupts, and memory-mapped I/O.
- Knowledge of DVFS, clock/power gating, clock sequencing, binning, and power/thermal budgeting techniques.
- Experience analyzing, debugging, and tuning performance of complex system software stacks.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.
