Senior System Software Engineer - Platform Software

Role Summary

Work on SOC and system-level platform software including drivers, BSP, CI/CD tooling, and platform bring-up. Collaborate with OEM partners and cross-functional teams from pre-silicon through production to deliver robust platform features.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The role expects 12+ years of meaningful software development experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop, triage and maintain platform drivers for SOCs.
  • Build automation and triage tools for firmware and OS driver issues.
  • Support OS driver development, system bring-up, and multimedia drivers.
  • Work with OEMs and partner ecosystems to deliver platform solutions.
  • Support boot metrics, platform security, and OS-level features.
  • Drive components from pre-silicon modeling through bring-up to production.
  • Participate in architecture definition, early modeling and simulation efforts.
  • Collaborate with global engineering teams to resolve system-level issues.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • 12+ years of software development experience working on system or platform software.
  • Strong C/C++ and Python programming skills; history of independent coding projects.
  • Deep understanding of ARM microarchitecture and exception levels.
  • Strong operating systems fundamentals; kernel and hypervisor experience on Linux and Windows.
  • Familiarity with ACPI and device tree concepts.
  • Good knowledge of computer system architecture (caches, buses, memory controllers, DMA).
  • Hands-on experience with debuggers (GDB, WinDBG) and compilers (GCC, MSVC, LLVM).
  • Practical knowledge of SOC architecture across Boot, Security and OS subsystems.
  • Experience solving problems in large, complex systems deployed at scale.

Nice-to-have:

  • Advanced system-level debugging skills and tooling experience.
  • Experience with system reliability and resiliency features.
  • Familiarity with system-level security concepts and embedded software.

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field - or equivalent practical experience.
