Senior System Software Engineer - Halos Core and Robotics Platform

Role Summary

Design and implement system software for NVIDIA Halos, a safety-focused, edge AI platform for autonomous vehicles and robotics. The role works across embedded and rich OS environments (QNX, Linux, hypervisors), device bring-up, drivers, virtualization, safety, and tooling to deliver high-integrity platform software.

Position collaborates with ASIC, firmware, OS, safety, security, and platform teams to optimize platforms and improve developer workflows. Applications accepted until July 26, 2026.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically 8+ years of experience in system software architecture and development for real-time embedded systems.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include architecting, implementing, and debugging system software and platform bring-up for NVIDIA SoCs and edge AI platforms.

  • Architect, design, develop, and debug system software across QNX, Linux, and hypervisor environments.
  • Design and implement BSP, boot, drivers, device-management, diagnostics, and platform software for SoCs.
  • Bring up and optimize next-generation platforms in collaboration with ASIC, firmware, OS, safety, and security teams.
  • Design and implement I/O virtualization and mixed-criticality system solutions.
  • Apply formal methods to architect and develop high-integrity software.
  • Design debugging, tracing, logging, and performance-analysis solutions to improve developer experience.
  • Develop and use AI/GenAI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate debugging, testing, code review, documentation, and workflow automation.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience. Separate section below lists formal education expectations.

  • 8+ years of system software architecture and development for real-time embedded systems or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of computer architecture and operating system fundamentals.
  • Experience designing and developing complex system solutions, including virtualized configurations and hypervisors.
  • Proficiency in C and/or Python; practical Ada/SPARK experience is acceptable where specified.
  • Hands-on experience with platform bring-up, debugging tools, performance analysis, and system analyzer tools.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools for coding, debugging, testing, documentation, or workflow automation.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and collaborative skills; self-motivated and results oriented.

Nice-to-have

  • In-depth knowledge of QNX and real-time Linux.
  • Low-level ARMv8 architecture and SOC bring-up experience.
  • Prior Ada/SPARK programming and formal verification experience (including TLA+ modeling).
  • Background in developing software compliant with ISO 26262 and ISO 21434.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
