Senior System Software Engineer — Halos Core and Robotics Platform
Role Summary
Develop system software for NVIDIA Halos, a full-stack safety platform for autonomous vehicles, robotics, and intelligent machines. The role covers embedded and rich OS environments, safety, security, virtualization, and accelerated compute on NVIDIA SoCs.
This position works with ASIC, firmware, OS, safety, security, and platform teams to bring up, optimize, and verify high-integrity production platforms.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The posting requests 8+ years of experience in system software architecture and development for real-time embedded systems.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include design, implementation, and validation of system-level software and platform bring-up.
- Architect, design, implement, and debug system software across QNX, Linux, and hypervisor-based environments.
- Design and develop BSP, boot, drivers, device management, diagnostics, and platform software for NVIDIA SoCs and edge AI platforms.
- Design and implement I/O virtualization solutions for mixed-criticality systems.
- Develop software that meets safety and security standards (ISO 26262, ISO 21434).
- Bring up and optimize next-generation platforms in collaboration with ASIC, firmware, OS, safety, and security teams.
- Apply formal methods and high-integrity engineering practices to architect and verify software.
- Use AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate debugging, testing, code review, documentation, and workflow automation.
- Design debugging, tracing, logging, and performance-analysis solutions to improve developer productivity and system observability.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, practical experience, and personal attributes for successful performance.
- 8+ years in system software architecture and development for real-time embedded systems (experience required).
- Strong understanding of computer architecture and operating system fundamentals.
- Proficient in C and/or Ada/SPARK for systems programming and debugging.
- Experience with RTOS (e.g., QNX, RT Linux), hypervisors, and virtualization concepts.
- Practical experience with ARM architecture and low-level software for ARMv8-based SoCs.
- Hands-on experience with debugging tools, performance analysis, and system analyzer tools.
- Familiarity using AI-assisted development tools for coding, debugging, testing, or documentation.
- Self-motivated, team-oriented contributor with strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Prior hands-on Ada/SPARK work including specification and formal verification; TLA+ modeling experience.
- Experience with architectural safety analysis (FMEA/DFA), threat modeling, and secure design practices.
- Proven track record of taking features from inception through product delivery following SDLC practices.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
