Senior System Software Engineer - Halos Core and Robotics Platform
Role Summary
Join the Halos team to design and implement system software for NVIDIA's safety-focused edge AI platform for autonomous vehicles, robotics, and intelligent machines. The role spans embedded and rich operating systems, virtualization, safety, security, and accelerated computing on NVIDIA SoCs.
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires 8+ years of relevant system software and embedded systems experience.
Responsibilities
You will architect, implement, and optimize system-level software and platform bring-up for mixed-criticality, safety-focused edge platforms.
- Architect, design, develop, and debug system software across QNX, Linux, and hypervisor-based environments.
- Design and implement BSP, boot, drivers, I/O virtualization, diagnostics, and platform software for NVIDIA SoCs.
- Develop safe, secure software aligned with automotive safety standards, using formal methods where applicable.
- Bring up and optimize next-generation platforms working with ASIC, firmware, OS, safety, security, and platform teams.
- Design debugging, tracing, logging, and performance-analysis tooling to improve developer workflows.
- Use GenAI and AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate debugging, testing, code review, and documentation.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution.
- 8+ years building system software and solutions for complex real-time embedded systems.
- Strong understanding of computer architecture and OS fundamentals.
- Proficient in C and/or Ada/SPARK for low-level systems development and debugging.
- Experience with virtualization, hypervisors, and mixed-criticality software stacks.
- Practical experience with debugging, performance analysis, and system analyzer tools.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools for coding, debugging, testing, documentation, or workflow automation.
- Effective collaborator with strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
Nice-to-have:
- In-depth experience with QNX or RT Linux and ARMv8 low-level software development.
- Prior hands-on Ada/SPARK development and formal verification (e.g., TLA+).
- Background developing software compliant with ISO 26262 and ISO 21434.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
