Senior System Software Engineer — Halos Core and Robotics Platform

Role Summary

Senior system-software engineer on NVIDIA Halos, a full-stack safety platform for autonomous and robotic systems. The role spans embedded and rich OSes, virtualization, safety, security, and platform bring-up for NVIDIA SoCs and edge AI devices.

Experience Level

Senior-level role. Expect 8+ years of system software architecture and development experience for real-time embedded systems.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design, implementation, and optimization of system software and platform support for safety-critical and mixed-criticality systems.

  • Architect, design, develop, and debug system software across QNX, Linux, and hypervisor environments.
  • Design and implement BSP, boot, drivers, device management, diagnostics, and platform software for NVIDIA SoCs and edge AI platforms.
  • Design and develop I/O virtualization solutions for mixed-criticality systems.
  • Develop safe and secure software compliant with ISO 26262 and ISO 21434.
  • Platform bring-up and performance optimization, collaborating with ASIC, firmware, OS, safety, security, and platform teams.
  • Apply formal methods to architect and develop high-integrity software.
  • Use AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate debugging, test development, code review, documentation, and workflow automation.
  • Design debugging, tracing, logging, and performance-analysis solutions to improve developer experience.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.

  • 8+ years of experience in system software architecture and development for real-time embedded systems.
  • Strong understanding of computer architecture and operating-system fundamentals.
  • Proficient in C and/or Ada/SPARK for systems programming and debugging.
  • Experience designing and delivering solutions for complex system problems.
  • Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools for coding, debugging, testing, documentation, or workflow automation.
  • Hands-on experience with debugging tools, performance analysis, and system analyzer tools.
  • Team-oriented, self-motivated, results-focused with strong analytical and interpersonal skills.

Preferred / Nice-to-have:

  • Deep experience with embedded systems and real-time OSes such as QNX or RT Linux.
  • Knowledge of ARM architecture and low-level software development for ARMv8-based SoCs.
  • Prior hands-on Ada/SPARK development and formal verification experience; familiarity with TLA+ modeling.
  • Experience with architectural safety analyses (FMEA/DFMEA) and security threat modeling.
  • Experience delivering features through a full SDLC.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
