Job Title

Senior System Software Engineer - Halos Core and Robotics Platform

Role Summary

Senior engineer responsible for architecting, implementing, and debugging system software for NVIDIA Halos — a full‑stack safety platform for physical AI and robotics. The role focuses on low‑level platform software across QNX, Linux, and hypervisor environments and works closely with ASIC, firmware, OS, safety, and security teams.

Experience Level

Senior. The posting requests 8+ years of relevant system software and real‑time embedded systems experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design, implementation, integration, and optimization of system software and platform components:

  • Architect, design, develop, and debug system software for Halos across QNX, Linux, and hypervisor-based environments.
  • Design and implement BSP, boot, drivers, I/O virtualization, diagnostics, and platform software for mixed‑criticality systems on NVIDIA SoCs.
  • Develop safety- and security‑oriented software aligned with automotive standards and maximize use of formal methods.
  • Bring up and optimize next‑generation platforms; collaborate with ASIC, firmware, OS, safety, security, and platform teams.
  • Use AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate debugging, test development, code review, documentation, and workflow automation.
  • Design debugging, tracing, logging, and performance‑analysis solutions to improve developer productivity.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience. Nice-to-have items are listed separately.

  • Must have: System software architecture experience and strong understanding of computer architecture and operating system fundamentals.
  • Must have: Strong C and/or Ada/SPARK programming and debugging skills; experience with real‑time embedded systems and low‑level software.
  • Must have: Hands-on experience with debugging, performance analysis, and system‑analyzer tools.
  • Must have: Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools for coding, debugging, testing, documentation, or workflow automation.
  • Must have: Proven ability to work cross‑functionally with hardware, firmware, safety, and platform teams; effective communicator and self‑directed contributor.
  • Nice to have: In‑depth knowledge of QNX and real‑time Linux, ARMv8 architecture, BSP/I/O virtualization, and ISO 26262 / ISO 21434 compliance processes.
  • Nice to have: Prior hands‑on Ada/SPARK programming and formal verification (including TLA+ modeling).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience; postings explicitly allow equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
