Job Title

Senior System Software Engineer - Halos

Role Summary

Develop and deliver system software for NVIDIA Halos, a full-stack safety platform for autonomous vehicles, robots, and other physical AI systems. The role focuses on embedded and rich OS environments, virtualization, safety, security, and platform bring-up.

You will collaborate with ASIC, firmware, OS, safety, security, platform teams and external vendors to architect, integrate, and optimize mixed-criticality software stacks on edge AI platforms.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 8+ years of system software architecture and development for real-time embedded systems.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and validate low-level system software and platform software for NVIDIA SoCs and edge AI platforms.

  • Architect, design, develop, and debug system software across QNX, Linux, and hypervisor-based environments.
  • Design and develop BSP, boot, drivers, device management, networking, diagnostics, and platform software.
  • Develop safe and secure software in accordance with industry safety and security standards.
  • Bring up and optimize next-generation platforms; collaborate with ASIC, firmware, OS, safety, security, and external vendors.
  • Design and implement I/O virtualization solutions for mixed-criticality systems.
  • Apply formal methods to architect and develop high-integrity software.
  • Use GenAI and AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate debugging, testing, code review, documentation, and workflow automation.
  • Resolve complex kernel-level issues and lead integration of external Ethernet switching and networking technology.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience.

  • 8+ years of experience in system software architecture and development for real-time embedded systems.
  • Strong understanding of computer architecture, operating system fundamentals, and networking.
  • Proficient programming and debugging in Python and C, and/or Ada/SPARK.
  • Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools for coding, debugging, testing, documentation, or workflow automation.
  • Hands-on experience with debugging tools, performance analysis, system and network analyzer tools, and platform bring-up.
  • Deep expertise in automotive networking across Linux and QNX, including network stack optimization, multi-OS integration, IEEE 1588 PTP, TSN, hardware time-stamping, Ethernet switches, PHYs, and cross-layer debug.
  • Team-oriented, results-driven, self-motivated with strong analytical and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • In-depth knowledge of embedded real-time operating systems such as QNX and RT Linux.
  • Experience with ARM architecture and low-level software development for ARMv8-based SoCs.
  • Prior hands-on Ada/SPARK programming with specification and formal verification, and TLA+ modeling.
  • Experience developing software to ISO 26262 and ISO 21434 standards.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience; the posting explicitly permits equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
