Job Title

Senior System Software Architect - Halos Core and Robotics Platform

Role Summary

Lead architecture and implementation of system software for NVIDIA Halos, a full‑stack safety platform for autonomous vehicles, robotics, and edge AI systems. The role spans embedded and rich operating systems, virtualization, safety, security, and accelerated computing across NVIDIA SoCs and edge platforms.

Work cross-functionally with ASIC, firmware, OS, safety, security, and platform teams to bring up, optimize, and harden mixed‑criticality systems for production deployment.

Experience Level

Senior — the posting specifies 12+ years of experience in system software architecture and development for real‑time embedded systems.

Responsibilities

The core responsibilities focus on architecting, implementing, and validating system software across RTOS, Linux, and hypervisor environments for mixed‑criticality edge AI platforms.

  • Architect, design, develop, and debug system software across QNX, Linux, and hypervisor environments.
  • Design and develop BSP, boot, drivers, device-management, diagnostics, and platform software for NVIDIA SoCs and edge AI platforms.
  • Design and implement I/O virtualization solutions for mixed‑criticality systems.
  • Develop safe and secure software compliant with ISO 26262 and ISO 21434 standards.
  • Bring up and optimize next‑generation platforms, coordinating with ASIC, firmware, OS, safety, and security teams.
  • Apply formal methods to architect and develop high‑integrity software.
  • Use AI‑assisted engineering tools to accelerate debugging, test development, code review, documentation, requirements analysis, and workflow automation.
  • Design debugging, tracing, logging, and performance‑analysis solutions to improve developer productivity and system observability.

Requirements

Must‑have technical skills, experience, and attributes for success in this role.

  • 12+ years of system software architecture and development for real‑time embedded systems.
  • Strong understanding of computer architecture and operating system fundamentals.
  • Proficiency in C and/or Ada/SPARK and strong debugging skills.
  • Practical experience using AI‑assisted development tools for coding, debugging, testing, documentation, or workflow automation.
  • Hands‑on experience with debugging tools, performance analysis, and system analyzer tools.
  • Proven ability to design solutions for complex system problems and deliver features through the software development life cycle.
  • Self‑motivated, team oriented, with strong analytical and interpersonal skills.

Nice to have:

  • Deep experience with QNX and real‑time Linux.
  • Low‑level software development experience on ARMv8 SoCs.
  • Experience with Ada/SPARK specification and formal verification; TLA+ modeling.
  • Experience performing architectural safety analysis (FMEA/DFA) and security threat modeling.
  • Experience taking features from inception to product in a production SDLC environment.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience. The posting explicitly allows equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
