Senior System Firmware Engineer - BIOS UEFI

Role Summary

Develop and deliver system firmware (BIOS/UEFI) for NVIDIA client platforms. The role focuses on firmware architecture, implementation, verification, and cross-functional collaboration with hardware, security, and test teams.

Work as part of a global BIOS/UEFI engineering team to produce production-quality firmware for GPU-based client products.

Experience Level

Senior — 8+ years of relevant firmware or systems engineering experience, with demonstrated strong individual-contributor delivery on client product projects.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include design, implementation, verification, and cross-team coordination:

  • Design and implement UEFI/BIOS firmware features and platform integrations for GPU-based client systems.
  • Collaborate with a global team of BIOS developers and hardware engineers to define and deliver platform firmware.
  • Develop performance-optimized firmware using industry standards and platform best practices.
  • Instrument code, write and automate unit tests, and maintain unit test reports to ensure high code coverage.
  • Generate software quality metrics from static analysis, coverage, and CPU/load profiling.
  • Work with security engineers to meet product security requirements for firmware components.
  • Partner with hardware teams to influence board/SoC designs and review schematics relevant to firmware behavior.
  • Collaborate with QA and test architects to design test tools and automation for system software and firmware qualification.

Requirements

Minimum technical requirements and skills:

  • Domain expertise in System BIOS (UEFI) firmware development on x86 or ARM platforms.
  • Strong experience with IBV or EDK II firmware architecture and implementations.
  • Proven record of delivering client products end-to-end from definition through customer deployment.
  • Solid understanding of low-level platform interfaces: I2C, SPI, PCIe, JTAG; PCIe enumeration and platform-level IO.
  • Experience collaborating with hardware teams, ODMs, and third-party vendors to bring platforms to production.
  • Proficient in C/C++ development; experience with bash and Python for scripting and automation.
  • Debugging experience in embedded Linux and Windows environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, teamwork, and a disciplined, self-starting work style.
  • (Nice-to-have) Proven record delivering BIOS/UEFI for ARM-based client products and experience with IBV solutions for client platforms.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
